Travel Through Art
One of my favorite things to do when I travel is take in all the different forms of art whether it is through street art/graffiti, monuments/sculptures, and art museums that show the classic and modern forms of art. Another form of art are travel posters from around the world that showcases their city and how they promote what that particular city or country is known for.
Now you can make your own travel posters thanks to Paint by Sticker: Travel. This book celebrates a time when elegant posters, in an Art Deco style, beckoned visitors to faraway romantic places—from Venice, with its canals and gondolas, to Cairo, gateway to the pyramids—all through the absorbing activity of painting by sticker.
If you are an arts and craft person, this book is for you! Paint by Sticker is a paint-by-number book and each template is divided into dozens of spaces, each with a number that corresponds to a particular sticker. Find the sticker, peel it, place it. And then the next, and the next, and the next, until your “poster” comes to life.
My favorite part about this book is that as I was creating my poster, I was able to transport myself back to when I traveled to Cairo 7 years ago (exactly this month). It was the most amazing experience -- all my senses during my time in Cairo came to life and as I was putting my poster together it reminded me of walking through bazaar and scent of leather, hookah and lamb all in one spot, while admiring the bright colors in local garments and art.
I highly recommend my this book as a gift whether for a birthday or holidays -- especially to those that love crafts and travel. Paint by Sticker: Travel includes everything you need to create twelve vibrant, nostalgic travel posters—the stickers, the templates, the intuitive directions. The book includes Moscow, home of St. Basil’s Cathedral and its candy-colored onion domes. India and the Taj Mahal, crown jewel in a world of fascinating destinations. Bermuda. Monaco. Japan and its cherry blossoms and pagodas.
