Adelante! Fund and United Airlines announced their 2011: "Destino: Latinoamerica" Video Contest. For those of you who do not know about Adelante! Fund, here is a brief description that I picked up from their website: The Adelante! Fund is designed to address the educational needs of the growing Hispanic population.
This year they have partnered with United Airlines to offer a fun contest for Hispanic undergrads (Sophomore, Junior, or Senior) to submit a three to five minute video in either English or Spanish (maybe even some Spanglish?) highlighting five reasons why they should be chosen to visit one of the many Latin American or Caribbean countries that United flies to.
Since I can't apply, I recommend the following five destinations to those that are considering applying:
1. Los Roques, Venezuela
2. Los Cabos, Mexico
3. El Tikal, Guatemala
4. Machu Pichu, Peru
5. San Juan, Puerto Rico
If I was an undergrad, I would totally take advantage of this opportunity! So for all you Latino undergrads wishing to take a fun trip to the Caribbean or to visit your family in Latin America, I highly recommend for you to apply. Traveling has changed my life and if you get selected you will see how it will change yours.
