Chicago Bucket List (work in progress)

source: newcreationfive17.com
For the last few weeks, I have been reading several different blog posts and articles that suggest several must-do items that one should do while living in Chicago. Well, I noticed some of these needed a little more sugar, spice, and everything nice.

Therefore, I have created my own version of a Chicago bucket list which I will continue to add on to it as days/weeks/months go on, some of them I have not done and others I have. So, for those that are new to the city and for those that have been living here for a while, here is my version of a Chicago Bucket list:

1. Go to a Chicago Bulls game and enjoy a pulled pork belly sandwich with sweet potatoes fries

2. Visit the Sears Tower (now known as Willis Tower) and check out the Sky Deck

3. Take a cruise through the Chicago River for a unique experience and learn about Chicago’s architecture

4. Take the Metra and head to Ravinia to listen to some great music, while enjoying a nice homemade picnic

5. Eat a Chicago style hot dog at Maxwell Street Ride

6. Go sailing on Lake Michigan (and make friends with someone who owns a boat!)

7. Visit Garfield Conservatory

8. Go to a U.S. Cellular Field for a Sox game

9. Purchase a Groupon for a rooftop Wrigley Field for a Cubs game experience

10. Check out the Skydeck at Sears Tower

11. Attend Chicago street festivals! Some of my favorites: Do Division, Ribfest, Mayfest, Chicago Pride Parade, Octoberfest, Wells Street Arts, and Wicker Park Fest

12. Turtle races at Big Joe’s

13. Listen to some Jazz or Blues at the Green Mill and take a photo with Al Capone’s piano!

14. Run the drive! There is nothing like enjoying Lake Shore Drive than by running it or if you are not a runner then bike it or roller blade it!

15. Take the Purple Line to Evanston or the Metra to Winnetka and head over to the Baha’i Temple (only 7 of them in the world and Chicago has one of them!)

16. Visit at least one of the local breweries: Three Floyd’s, Half Acre, Goose Island, Two Brothers Brewing Company, Haymarket, Piece, Revolution.

17. Check out the Chicago History Museum

18. Brunch at Yolk

19. Go to a Second City show

20. Dance the night away at Grant Park’s Summerfest

21. Go to a NFL or Soccer match at Soldier Field

22. Enjoy some blues, rock and roll or jazz at Buddy Guy’s Legends; if you are lucky, you get to see the legend himself!

23. Tour Graceland Cemetery to see where all of the famous Chicagoans are buried

24. First Fridays at the MCA

25. Learn a new romance language at either the Alliance Francaise or Instituto Cervantes

26. Get insulted while eating your meal at Dick’s Last Resort or Ed Debevick’s

27. Check out a show at the Lyric Opera House

28. Enjoy some all the taste samples at the annual Taste of Chicago

29. Go to Navy Pier’s summer fireworks every Wednesday or Saturday

30. Ride the Navy Pier Ferris wheel

31. Explore Prairie and Astor Streets to see mansions of historical Chicagoans

32. Attend the summer's most popular music festival, Lollapalooza (my reco: do the one day pass, three days is a bit much!)

33. Have a drink at the Signature Room in the John Hancock

34. Go to Chicago's annual PRIDE parade...it seems like every year it gets bigger and better

35. Do a Segway tour through Millenium Park, Grant Park, and Navy Pier! Fun family activity or for a group of friends
