Review: Food Lover's Guide to The World

The people over at Lonely Planet recently sent me their latest book called Food Lover's Guide to The World. The moment you open the book you feel like you are immediately being transported to the country you are reading about. The beautiful, bold pictures make your mouth watery and crave everything from French cheeses, Mexican rice and spices, to momos in Tibet.

Not only are the images one of my favorite parts of this book but I also appreciate that the author has gone ahead and even added a couple of recipes from each country she takes you to. That way you can try some of these popular dishes at home...which is great for all of you wanna-be chefs like me!

Mark Bittman in the intro of the book explains that the purpose of the book was clearly done to bring back not just mouthwatering memories but inspiration. For me the inspiration that this book gave me was to immediately book a ticket to visit Italy again next spring and check out some of the festivals that the book shares like Vinitaly (Italian vino festival) and Cioccolato festival in Turino, the chocolate capital of Italy. This book will take your tastes buds on a tour around the world and cook up your next great culinary adventure.

This is a book I highly recommend to those that enjoy discovering new dishes and just love all kinds of food. It provides you some great foodie trip ideas and inspiration to improve your cooking skills! Since the holiday season is approaching, this is a great book I would recommend as a gift to all of your foodie friends and family members.

Disclosure: Lonely Planet sent me this book for me to review and provide my honest opinion about it. All opinions based here are of my own.
