Hi.

What Hispanic Heritage Month Means to Me! [GIVEAWAY!]

Yesterday, we closed out the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. As most celebratory month's this one is special to me because of my heritage. Hispanics in the U.S. are major contributor to the health and stability of our economy from the line of work they are doing to the amount of money they are spending (including in travel!).

So to celebrate I worked with some awesome sponsors one of them being Procter & Gamble's Orgullosa. The people at Orgullosa sent over an awesome box filled with Olay face lotions, Secret deodorant, Venus shavers, Covergirl lipsticks, T-shirts and bags that say "Soy Latina y Tengo La Falda Bien Puesta," and nail polishes so we can pamper ourselves with the colors that best describe ourselves. This awesome kit is available for you as well. Just follow the instructions below from the rafflecopter and a winner will be announced on Friday October 18th, 2013.

I invited over a few girlfriends that I haven't seen in ages due to all my travel lately. It was amazing catching up with them and talking about everything from what we are doing now a days, our love lives, to where our next girls trip is going to be and even went further into and talked about Hispanics in the U.S. and what Hispanic Heritage Month means to each one of us.

It was interesting to once again hear stories about our struggles as we have grown to be successful, beautiful, strong Hispanic/Latina ladies. One thing that was common was that we are all constantly celebrating our heritage not just in the months of September/October. We celebrate it via our language, the music, travels to see our family back "home," or even via food!

Speaking of which, my friends at IMUSA and McCormick Spices sent me an awesome package called the Cuban/Caribbean package which included IMUSA’s Wood Mortar and Pestle and Tostonera, McCormick’s Black Pepper, Garlic Salt, Curry Powder, Paprika, Cinnamon, Oregano, Black Peppercorn Grinder, Chicken Bag β€˜n Season, Black Beans Rice Mix, and Paella Rice Mix. This package was awesome because it included so many seasonings and kitchen tools that I have been wanting to purchase but haven't had a chance to get around to it and finally I have it such as the tostonera! And guess what? You too can get one of these packages by just following the instructions listed on the rafflecopter below and a winner will be announced on Friday October 18th, 2013.

As we all know, it's not a Latino event if there isn't great food! Which if you aren't confident in the kitchen it might be a bit intimidating with a bunch of Hispanics eating your food since we have super high expectations on every meal we enjoy :)

So to host my wonderful girlfriends, I used the delicious seasonings and made my girlfriends and awesome healthy dish with some Latin flavors in it! Seasoned the chicken legs with McCormick Spices: Black Pepper, Garlic Salt, Curry Powder, and Cayenne Pepper. I drizzled some olive oil and let the seasonings do its work for over night (I prepped the chicken the day before we all got together). Then I used some of the similar seasonings of the chicken on to the Brussels Sprouts and cooked the awesome Black Beans Rice Mix.

This was the best Hispanic Heritage Month celebration I have ever hosted and so happy to have such awesome sponsors to help me make this a kick ass evening for my friends and I.
